Key Publishing

The largest traditional niche hobby publishers in the UK, I work as editor of PC Pilot, the longest running flight simulation magazine in the world.

PC Pilot operates in a fast-moving specialist publishing sector, where readers expect authoritative coverage of new software, hardware and aviation developments, often on tight deadlines and alongside rapidly evolving simulator platforms. The challenge was to maintain editorial quality and depth while keeping pace with product launches, industry announcements and shifting reader interests.

Alongside print, I lead the brand’s future plans on digital formats, audience engagement and how long-form, technical journalism could adapt to new publishing models without losing the trust it had built over decades.

I work with PC Pilot as Editor-at-Large and contributing writer, producing in-depth reviews, feature articles and editorial strategy pieces across flight simulation, aviation history and emerging simulator technology. My role combines frontline journalism with senior editorial input — helping shape coverage priorities, commissioning themes, and long-term feature planning.

This includes researching and testing new products, conducting interviews, developing major multi-page features, contributing to issue planning, and supporting conversations around digital development and audience growth.
